Releasing the Iliopsoas
Instructor: Rachel Hull, LMT
Date: March 9, 2018
CEs: 4 Credit Hours
A restricted iliopsoas can cause severe low back pain that can refer below the shoulder blade, upper buttocks region, and even around the front of the thigh. The trigger points that develop in a restricted iliopsoas can make walking up the stairs, standing up from a seated position, and simply walking difficult and painful for your clients.
This class will teach you to recognize and treat a weakened, shortened, or restricted iliopsoas muscle. We will cover in depth the origin and insertion of the muscle, how to palpate the muscle, common trigger point sites and referral pain patterns. Also, we will address the secondary hip flexors (rectus femoris and adductors) to help alleviate pain. By doing so, the iliopsoas will begin to restore itself, so the body can move normally with ease.
There is a minimum of six students required to hold this class; any less may warrant a change in class date.
