CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle hands-on massage technique that effectively works to release tensions in the body. This helps to relieve pain and dysfunction and can improve a person’s overall health and wellness.
This type of therapy focuses on releasing tightness and restrictions in soft tissue surrounding the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord). CST is often used as part of a preventive health regimen and can help a body’s immune system to fight off disease.
The craniosacral system is comprised of the membranes and fluids that surround the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord). The everyday stress and strain that people can endure actually causes the body’s tissues to tense up and tighten, and cause pain and discomfort in the craniosacral system. This tension can not only cause issues with the CNS, but also with all of the other body systems that it interacts with on a regular basis.
CST massage therapists use a gentle touch by testing and feeling various locations of the body to determine ease of motion and fluid around the brain and spinal cord. These soft-touch massage techniques are used to help release any tissue restrictions that may be present.
CST is able to relieve the symptoms of chronic pain, sports injuries and more. Some of the other conditions that may be effectively addressed by CST are: migraines and headaches, chronic neck and back pain, stress, tendon-related disorders, motor-coordination impairments, brain and spinal cord injuries, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, TMJ, and scoliosis.
