Dear Fellow LMTs and CE Providers, A few of us who feel that massage therapy continuing education should remain primarily in-person, are appealing to Governor Wolf and Pennsylvania representatives to rescind his order that all of our continuing education in Pa. can be done online for the remaining renewal period. Extending the renewal period for six months would make more sense.
The Pa. Dept of State’s statement, “The governor granted a suspension of restrictions that limited the ability of licensees to take classes online or participate in distance-learning opportunities for the current biennial renewal period to permit all licensees to complete their continuing education online during the COVID-19 pandemic.” is unclear, premature and without comprehension of what this might mean for the massage profession. It also doesn’t take into consideration CPR.
Many LMTs do not like distance learning; some don’t have computers, access to the Internet, or have the interest to take advantage of an online class.
Most CE Providers are LMTs, but many teach more than run a full time massage business. They have worked hard to create their classes, and have put a lot of time, energy and money into advertising, and teaching. Some have made a large deposit on venues that may not be refundable. Many massage schools, CE Centers and venues count on the revenue for CE classes, as well.
Please support our petition to Governor Wolf and our Pa. Legislators! Don’t worry about spending your money and time on CE classes now – do what you need to do for yourself during this uncertain time and we will be there for you in the near future with relevant, interesting, current and affordable in-person classes!
Please consider signing the attached petition, as well as emailing Governor Wolf with this concern at: email@example.com.
Thanks for your continued support!
