The use of hot stones for healing dates back to ancient times.  The heat relaxes the muscles allowing the therapist to work without using deep pressure.

There are many benefits of hot stone massage, one of which is pain relief. Hot stone massage has been found to aid in symptom relief in people with conditions including fibromyalgia, back pain, rheumatoid arthritis, and auto-immune disorders by lessening pain and improving range of motion.

Hot stone massage also help with stress relief by reducing anxiety and depression and helping to improve cardiovascular health.

Another benefit of hot stone massage is increased joint flexibility. Hot stone massage can help muscles to relax which makes it easier for someone experiencing chronic pain to move. Additional benefits include decreased muscle spasms and a decrease in body tension. Hot stone massage works to reduce the inflammation and tension in muscles to ease both muscle spasms and the pain associated with them.

Hot stone massage also aids in good sleep. Many people do not sleep well, often due to stress, insomnia and hectic lives. Hot stone massage has been found to promote both relaxation and sleep.

This class will teach the art of hot stone and how to safely handle and disinfect the stones.  Contraindications will also be discussed.  This class includes lecture, demonstration, and hands-on practice by students. Learn how to effectively use Hot Stone Massage for your clients.
